Sonstiges FYI: You are required to take ONE foreign language class. This can either be English or German. The other class, respectively, CAN be accredited as an elective module.
The decision whether English or German should count as your compulsory language module will only have to be made at the end of the summer semester in June 2023 and can be decided on the basis of your final marks for both modules.

Kommentar/Beschreibung

The objective of this class is to improve oral and written skills so that you be more confident using English while studying and later on in your professional life. You will have the opportunity to develop your specialised technical as well as business language skills and practise them in a wide variety of contexts.

Topics in the 1st semester (I) include:
1. intercultural communication
2. presentations
3. lighting fundamentals + architectural basics
4. applications (cover letters, CVs/resumés, interviews)

2nd-semester (II) topics include:
1. business correspondence
2. communication theory and diplomatic business language,
3. managing discussions
4. negotiating.

Assessment will be conducted throughout both semesters using a mix of written, oral and productive/creative tasks.
